I came to Lake Mills Care Center after a major health scare—an artery burst in my brain. It was a miracle that I survived, and I thank the good Lord every day for helping me recover. I’ve regained about 42% of my brain function, and with the incredible care and support I’ve received here, I continue to make progress.

Lake Mills was an easy choice for me—it’s close to home. But I’ll admit, I was surprised by what I found here. I’ve hired many people over the years in business, and I can honestly say everyone here is A-number-one. From the janitor to the top leadership, every person is here for one purpose: to take care of the residents and help us live a good life.

When I first arrived, I’d also just had a large tumor removed from my colon. Between that and my stroke, I had a long road ahead. The team here has been with me every step of the way, helping me regain strength and confidence. The food, believe it or not, is unbelievable—nothing like what you’d expect in a nursing home.

Every morning, I wake up thankful to the good Lord and to the people here who are always ready to help, whether it’s two in the afternoon or four in the morning. The kindness, the attitude, and the community make all the difference.

Lake Mills Care Center is a place that truly cares. It’s not just a facility—it’s a community that supports and uplifts one another. I’ve already told my friends and family how great this place is, because you don’t dread waking up here – you enjoy it.
