When I started falling at home and couldn’t get back up on my own, I knew something had to change. I was trying to manage without a proper bed and sleeping on a couch in my dining room, but that wasn’t working anymore. Eventually, I landed in the hospital, and from there, I was transferred to Lake Mills Care Center. I didn’t exactly choose it—it chose me. But honestly, it was the biggest favor anyone could’ve done for me.

At first, I needed help getting around, but before I knew it, I was walking myself down the hall to meals. I’ve even transitioned into an area that requires less supervision. The staff here have been supportive, patient, and kind—never reprimanding me, just encouraging me every step of the way. One nurse in particular, Jewel, really stood out to me. She started as a CNA while in school and came back as a nurse. It was a joy to see her again, and her care meant a great deal.

I’ve also had a few short-term roommates during my stay who were lovely and made the experience even more comfortable. I appreciate having my own space, but it’s nice when someone warm and friendly shares the room for a time.

The food is good, the staff are friendly, and everything feels well taken care of. I may not have experience with other places, but I can tell you from what I’ve seen and felt—this is a caring, clean, and uplifting environment. That’s why I decided to stay. I knew I was only going to get older, and I didn’t want to go through another transition. Lake Mills Care Center has made it easy for me to feel safe, respected, and cared for.

I’d recommend this place to anyone who needs rehab or long-term care. They didn’t just meet my expectations—they exceeded them.
